Telecommunications industry competition getting tougher; the most worrisome if the competition was able to trim corporate profits. One company that is experiencing it is PT. Indosat Tbk. ISAT coded issuer's profit decreased to 56.8 percent in 2010.

In 2010, Indosat's net profit decreased by 56.8 percent to Rp.647.2 billion in 2010 compared to 2009 which amounted to Rp.1, 498 trillion. This is due to declining foreign exchange earnings, increasing the amount of financing costs and increased depreciation and amortization.

The number of cellular subscribers rose 34.3 percent to 44.3 million from the previous 33 million. And debt fell 5.5 percent to Rp.24 trillion from Rp.25.5 trillion previously. Indosat profit but actually may strengthen if there is innovation.

The domestic telecommunications industry in 2009 is projected to decline due to global financial crisis issues. The crisis will hinder telecommunications vendor from elevating its role in the domestic market, hence the decline in the industry’s performance.
