Starting the academic year 2017/2018, the City Government eliminated monthly SPP fees on 96 private junior high schools (SMP) in the area. Tangerang Mayor Arief R Wismansyah recommends that parents whose children are not accepted in a state junior high school can choose one of these schools and the City Government has coordinated with the monthly SPP funding for students at the school.
Currently, this program is a priority, as a form of attention of the City Government in the education sector, because it wants to form qualified children, reducing the burden of parents in financing education and as a form of management of the tax returns of the community is returned again with this program.
It is hoped that through this policy, all urban residents encourage non-school children to attend school. The City Government of Tangerang will also monitor it by establishing a 12-year Compulsory Education Task Force, which is tasked with minimizing the number of school dropouts in Tangerang City.
