Indonesia's Bulog to Boost Rice Buffer With 300,000 Tons Imported From Vietnam: Dion Bisara, 3 November 2012

National food buffer stock agency Bulog is buying 300,000 tons of rice from Vietnam in order to maintain its stock.

Deddy Saleh, director general of foreign trade at the Trade Ministry, said that the agency will import rice from its Southeast Asian neighbor until December.

The agency is also tendering a 100,000 ton rice import from India because it is selling at a cheaper price than rice from Thailand.

Bulog usually maintains rice stocks at between 1.5 million and 2 million tons to provide a buffer against disaster. Last month, Bulog forecasted it would import between 500,000 to 770,000 tons of rice this year.
Optimism of Indonesian Investment in the Midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic:https://www.bkpm.go.id/id/publikasi/siaran-pers/readmore/2434501/76401/27 October 2021

The Ministry of Investment/Investment Coordination Agency (BKPM) published data on investment realization for the period July - September (quarter III) in 2021 reaching Rp 216.7 trillion and cumulative investment realization for the period January - September 2021 which reached Rp 659.4 trillion.

Economic growth in the second quarter of 2021 was recorded to be quite high at 7.07% with an investment realization of IDR 223.0 trillion. However, investment realization in the third quarter experienced a slowdown compared to the second quarter of 2021 by 2.8%. On the other hand, the PPKM policy has succeeded in suppressing the spread of Covid-19 until the third quarter of 2021 so that the investment climate is again optimistic and it is hoped that economic growth in the third quarter will remain positive.

With the case of an increase in the Covid-19 positivity rate from July to mid-August, forcing the Government to limit economic activities, especially in Java, resulting in a slowdown in investment activities. However, after good handling by the Government, with statistics on the decline in positive cases of Covid-19 in mid-August, the real economy continues to improve, so that business actors can accelerate construction or project development," explained Investment Minister/Head of BKPM, Bahlil Lahadalia.
