The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (LIPI) plans to recruit private researchers in "Indonesia Science Expo (ISE) 2017" exhibition on 23-26 October 2017 at Balai Kartini, Jakarta. The reason, researchers have to collaborate with each other to advance research. This was conveyed by the Deputy of Engineering Sciences LIPI Laksana Tri Handoko.
According to Handoko, the ISE exhibition becomes a forum for researchers to interact and work together and believe in the many advantages of interaction between civil servants and private researchers. The government is also interested in recruiting Indonesian researchers abroad. However, the government does not have the scope and authority to invite Indonesian researchers abroad to join. Because Indonesian researchers abroad have been affiliated with the research community in the country. Nevertheless, LIPI continues to pay attention to young diaspora abroad.
Indonesia's LIPI Ranked 99th Research Institute in the World: Ismira Lutfia, 2 August 2012
The Indonesian Institute for Sciences (LIPI) broke into the top 100 research and development institutions in the world, according to a July by Webometrics Ranking of World Universities. Webometrics, which surveyed 7,532 research centers, ranked LIPI 99th. In January, Webometrics placed the Indonesian Institute at the 590th position.
Bogie Soedjatmiko, LIPI's head of cooperation and correctional science, said the dramatically improved ranking reflected LIPI's true position.
Bogie explained that last year, LIPI placed 170th - but because its website had to undergo maintenance, LIPI's content was temporarily limited, causing the drop in rank, according to Bogie.
"At present, our position has improved, and were are in the top 100. This is an extraordinary achievement, especially considering the condition and facilities for research at LIPI are not adequate," he said.
Research funding in Indonesia has long been limited. Bogie estimated that funding in Indonesia is just 0.03 percent of GDP.
