Cafe as a Lifestyle Opportunity for Indonesia: https://kemlu.go.id/portal/id/read/3174/berita/cafe-sebagai-gaya-hidup-peluang-bagi-indonesia/22 November 2021
Cafes have become part of the lifestyle for Generation Z. The success of the cafe business depends on the quality of the coffee, tea, and food offered. Indonesia has a great opportunity to take advantage of the cafe business because it has coffee and tea whose taste is not shared by other countries' coffee and tea.
The Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Suryo Pratomo, conveyed this when attending the opening of the Cafe Asia Exhibition 2021 and The 8th International Coffee and Tea Expo at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore. The event which took place from 18-21 November 2021 was opened by the Minister of Trade and Industry of Singapore, Gan Kim Yong.
"The latest survey conducted by McKinsey showed that the buying power of Generation Z or those born after 1995 in the US reached 150 billion US dollars. Their consumption of coffee is twice that of coffee drinkers over the age of 60," said Ambassador Tommy.
This potential also applies to Indonesia and Singapore because the percentage of Generation Z is bigger than the US. This is certainly an opportunity for coffee and tea producers in Indonesia as well as those who are engaged in the food and beverage business, including cafes.
