West Sumbawa Regency Opens New Transmigration Area: www.sumbawanews.com, 10 November 2008


The Regional Government of West Sumbawa plans to carry out with its plan to open new transmigration area in Sengkodang District. For that reason, the regional government plant to coordinate with the board through social, population, civil, human resource and transmigration agency.

A new port named Jakarta New Port is being made near the old one in Ancol. This is done to increase the capacity of the ports in Jakarta as a national gate to enable the efficiency of import and export. It will also quicken the national economic growth, which could create job fields. According to the plan, this port will be built in 5 stages. The first stage will be the development of breakwater in July 2004 - December 2005. The second stage is dredging, reclamation, the building of the car terminal, public facilities and social facilities in 2006. The third stage, year 2007, will still be dredging, reclamation, the building of multipurpose terminal, offices, and business centers. The fourth stage, year 2008-2009, will be continuing the third step. In the final stage, the building of the multipurpose terminal will be continued. It will ready to operate in the year 2010.
