The Shoe Industry Will Grow 3.5%: http://industri.bisnis.com/read/20180111/257/725567/industri-sepatu-bakal-tumbuh-35/11 January 2018

The Indonesian Footwear Association (Asprisindo) believes that the growth of the footwear industry is better this year, driven by the realization of several new factories. The Secretary General of Asprisindo, Binsar Marpaung said that throughout 2017 the growth of the footwear industry which was seen based on export value, only grew by 2% to US $ 4.7 billion from US $ 4.6 billion. This year is better because of the realization of new factories in Central Java, such as in Jepara and Brebes.

Binsar said that the estimated growth of the footwear industry this year was 3.5%. The projected growth rate is not too high, one of which is caused by the weak supporting industry. The undeveloped domestic supporting industry caused footwear industry players to import raw materials and result in higher production costs compared to products of other countries, thus weakening the competitiveness of national products. Therefore, the footwear industry is awaiting the government's efforts to develop supporting industries, such as the leather tanning industry.
