The government disbursed Rp.10,88 Billion For Social Empowerment: www.beritasore.com - 15 March 2011


The central government through the Ministry of Social Affairs has allocated funds amounting to Rp.10,88 billion to deal with several types of social empowerment activities in Bali during 2011. As mentioned by Head of Provinsial of Social Department of Bali, the fund is part of Rp.49,61 billion to address social problems in Bali and are sourced from APBN and APBD Bali 2011.

He also mentioned that the seven social empowerment activities include poverty reduction of 3,000 heads of households (HH) in rural eight districts and one city in Bali with funding Rp.7, 04 billion.

Furthermore, poverty in urban areas to 700 families with funds Rp.1, 70 billion, as well as activities related to remote indigenous communities (KAT) which allocation of funds Rp.237, 82 million.

Other activities involved are the revamping of the garden tomb hero with funding Rp.35,9 46 million, and the empowerment of families and social institutions such as women's socio-economic prone to be granted Rp.92,954 million to 290 households.

He also stated that other programs is to provide assistance to 92 social organizations as well as increased ability to fund training Rp.27,036 million. Bali Provincial Social Service obtained funding amounting to Rp.4,961 billion to address various social issues during 2011. Funding was sourced from the central government, namely de-concentration Rp.17. 4 billion to handle the four programs involving 17 events, as well as two assistance programs and two other activities with an allocation of funds Rp.1, 9 billion.

Singapore Airlines, in collaboration with Forum Warga Kota Jakarta (FAKTA), has initiated Books on Wheels, a mobile library for street children, as part of the company's concrete actions to care for communities in areas in which it operates.

The Books on Wheels was officially launched last year by Jakarta Governor in Kampung Sepatan, Rorotan subdistrict, Cilincing, North Jakarta. The mobile library provides children with books and magazines donated by employees of Singapore Airlines to take part in supporting educational programs for underprivileged and street children, particularly in the Jakarta area.
