Public Access to Sanitation Low: March 2011

Realizing that modern sanitation development in various regions in Indonesia, including in North Sumatra, the central government through the state budget funds had been disbursed special allocation fund (DAK) of Rp.14.7 trillion. That number can only meet a part of Rp.58 trillion needed for provision of modern sanitation in the various counties and cities in North Sumatra.

With allocated DAK from the state budget for the procurement and provision of sanitation in each region, followed by recruiting facilitators for the provision of sanitation. In the training of facilitators sanitation in 2011 in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Works and the Ministry of Health, it targets the independence of the community, especially in North Sumatra, in managing the sanitation infrastructure has been built.

This effort must continue to be supported remember during these conditions is still very poor sanitation to many people in various areas such as Sibolga is suffer diarrheal diseases due to poor sanitation.
District givernment of DKI Jakarta will build five zones of waste handling: - 12 March 2010

The district government of DKI Jakarta will build five zones of waste handling. The urgent development is to build the central zone which is cover the area of Setiabudi, Gadjah Mada and Hayam Wuruk in West Jakarta. This project is a joint venture between district government of DKI Jakarta and Department of General Affairs. This project use the loan of 3.8 trillion rupiah which is given by the Japan government.

The next development will be the northwest zone which cover the area of Mangga Besar, Gunung Sahari, Pademangan and Sunter. The next one is southwest zone which cover the arean of Palmerah, Slipi and Kebon Jeruk. It is expexted by the year of 2030, approximately 30% of total water waste in Jakarta will be proceed by using there five zones.
