In the 4.0 industrial revolution, the automotive industry in Indonesia has a great opportunity to improve the national economy. Although this sector is among those affected by Covid-19, the government continues to strive to increase the excitement of this industry. So that this industry can recover and contribute to the fulfillment of world automotive, especially motor vehicles.
The potential for the development of the automotive industry is supported by Indonesia becoming the largest market for motor vehicles in ASEAN of around nine countries, with a contribution of 32 percent. In 2019, the Minister of Industry continued, more than one million vehicles were sold domestically and 300,000 have been exported worldwide.
The Ministry of Industry has proposed the relaxation of a number of taxes to support vehicle purchase relief, namely the Sales Tax on Luxury Goods (PPBM) for new cars of 0 percent, VAT, and local taxes which include transfer of name fees (BBN), motor vehicle tax (PKB), and progressive tax.

National car production has been able to penetrate more than 702,000 units in the middle of the third quarter of this year. Based on data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), production in August 2021 reached 101,810 units, the second highest since the 2021 record in March of 105,120 units.
Thus, the total production for the current year has reached 702,359 units. Toyota is still listed as the largest producer with a production volume of 43,000 units. This achievement is the highest throughout the year. Meanwhile, the next largest producers are still held by Daihatsu and Mitsubishi with 14,408 units and 14,882 units respectively.
