Indonesian Petroleum Production Declines by 0.21%: https://www.wartaekonomi.co.id/read205648/produksi-minyak-bumi-indonesia-turun-021.html/30 November 2018

The production of petroleum, natural gas and national coal tends to decline, while on the other hand, public consumption continues to grow. The Coordinating Minister of Maritime Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, Luhut B Panjaitan said that oil production decreased by 0.21% per year, and consumption grew by 2.1% per year. The trend of natural gas and coal production also continues to decline.

Luhut also said that for more than 15 years, especially for petroleum there was no new exploration and it is feared that it will greatly affect the nation's energy security. Therefore, Indonesia must immediately diversify its energy sources and must develop various renewable energy sources which potential is still very large to be developed. The potential for renewable energy is very large, but utilization is still low. The development of renewable energy technology will be more rapid in line with the increasingly affordable technology of electric batteries or lithium batteries. The government will prepare incentives and regulations to support the development of this sector and mastery of technology so that it can encourage the development of renewable energy.
