Private television stations begin apply for a renewal of broadcast licenses to the government. Currently, ten private TV stations have filed an extension to the Ministry of Communications and Information and the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI), namely RCTI, SCTV, MNC TV, ANTV, Indosiar, Metro TV, Trans TV, Trans7, TV One and Global TV. In accordance with Law No. 32/2002 on Broadcasting, a private television must apply for an extension of one year before the broadcasting license expires.

KPI has the authority to issue recommendations on the feasibility of filing license renewal broadcasters paid according PP 50/2005 on the Implementation of the Broadcasting Private Broadcasting Institution. In issuing recommendations for the feasibility, the government refers to three aspects: technical infrastructure, administrative feasibility, as well as the broadcast program. Ministry of Communication evaluate the role of related technical and administrative aspects and evaluate KPI based content.

FM radio frequency business conditions in Indonesia, especially those in the region, has decreased due to the growing number of media digitalization in the country.

Commissioner of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) Agung Suprio said, seeing the condition of the radio business the FM frequency offered by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to pay attention to the level of the regional economy. Regional KPI should select strictly the applicants who wish to have FM frequency for the radio business and have a responsibility to provide recommendations to applicants who have financial support and quality content.

Agung also hoped that the provincial government should provide facilities and infrastructure to the Regional KPI to support its work in the licensing process, especially in the face of e-licensing application plan.
