The struggle for independence should be viraled, because the world should know, somewhere between two oceans and two continents, a nation is struggling for sovereignty because Indonesia must exist.
When founded by Adam Malik, Pandoe Kartawigoena, Soemanang, and AM Sipahoetar, in Jakarta on 13 December 1937, a big question "why does national news agency if eating is not enough?" indeed very challenging to answer, especially in a country still colonized and exacerbated by the dominance of information propaganda from the Dutch colonial regime at that time through Aneta news agency. The struggle became one of the keywords for the founders of Antara to realize their ideals. This was conveyed by President Director of LKBN Antara Meidyatama Suryodiningrat when giving speech on the 80th Anniversary of LKBN Antara.
To achieve the purpose and objectives, LKBN Antara organizes coverage and dissemination of information on state and community activities at the national, regional and international levels; provision of news services, photo journalism, graphics, instant data, audio visual, information technology, and other multimedia related to state and community activities; provision of appreciation services and journalistic education, and multimedia education; the organization of electronic media, publishing and printing; and other business activities.
Antara as the national news agency and official news agency of the Republic of Indonesia must answer the various challenges faced. The greatest challenge of the present age is the rapid change.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics (BMKG) expand the provision of information to the public by agreeing on a memorandum of understanding with the AFP news agency.
Head of BMKG, Andi Eka Sakya, and Director of ANTARA, Saiful Hadi, signed a memorandum of understanding, in Wisma Antara, Jakarta, on Friday.
"ANTARA plays an important role in providing information to the rest of Indonesia. I am very happy with this MOU," said Eka, after the signing of the agreement.
According to him, the cooperation with the AFP news agency one way of spreading the word about various things related to weather, climate, to natural disasters.
