Government Encourages Hospital Accreditation: http://kalimantan.bisnis.com/read/20171020/448/701051/pelayanan-rumah-sakit-pemerintah-dorong-akreditasi-rs/20 October 2017

Currently only about 40.5% of hospitals have been accredited from 2,706 hospitals in Indonesia. Director General of Health Services of Ministry of Health Bambang Wibowo said that many tasks must be done by all health stakeholders to improve the quality of health services in the country. Data from the Hospital Accreditation Committee (KARS) stated that only 1,096 hospitals have been accredited from 2,706 hospitals in Indonesia. Of these, as many as 44% of them, included in the category plenary or the highest strata of the national hospital accreditation system. Others, divided into basic categories, middle and main. The existing assessment refers to internationally accepted standards.

The main obstacles faced by the hospital when performing the accreditation process are management, human resources (HR), and facilities owned. With good quality, patient safety in the hospital was guaranteed. However, with the National Health Insurance program (JKN) and the presence of the Social Security Administering Body (BPJS) Health claimed more and more hospitals are accrediting. In 2019, only accredited hospitals can work with BPJS Health. With the increasing number of hospitals in partnership with BPJS Health, it is hoped that the target of 95% of Indonesians who have access to comprehensive health by 2019 can be achieved.
