The Ministry of Industry continues to encourage the development of the rubber processing industry to make it more productive, innovative and competitive. This strategic step through downstream is believed to be able to optimize the absorption of rubber commodities in the country, as well as increase the added value, which will lead to national economic growth.

"Rubber commodity has an important role in the national economy. Moreover, Indonesia is the second largest natural rubber producer in the world, with a rubber plantation area of 3.6 million hectares and production reaching 3.03 million tons in 2021," said Director General of Agro Industry, Putu Juli Ardika in Jakarta, Sunday (18 /12).

The Ministry of Industry is encouraging the growth of the crumb rubber processing sector, through the XVI Economic Policy Package issued by the government. The policy is to relax the Negative Investment List (DNI) for the crumb rubber industry which is expected to develop the sector domestically.

The Minister of Industry, Airlangga Hartarto said that during the 2012-2016 period, there was only one additional company in the crumb rubber processing industry. Therefore, his side will conduct a special review for SMEs, some are opened and some involve limited foreign. He also explained that to encourage the growth of the industrial population, it needed to require outside investment.
