This is done to achieve the export target of Indonesian fishery products in 2018 which is set to reach a value of US $ 5 billion.
Director General of Maritime and Fisheries Product Competitiveness (PDSPKP) KKP, Rifky Effendi Hardijanto explained six fisheries commodities that are expected to be able to spur the value of Indonesian fisheries exports, namely shrimp, tuna, crab, crab, octopus, seaweed, cakalang and cob. Indonesia's main shrimp market is America's east coast. While the west coast of America is still dominated by suppliers from India. Likewise with the European market which cannot yet be optimized for marketing Indonesian fishery products.
KKP Ready to Boost Shrimp Production in 2024: https://news.republika.co.id/berita/s5eks7451/kkp-siap-genjot-produksi-udang-di-2024/9 December 2023 The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has scheduled the construction of modern shrimp ponds in a number of regions in Indonesia in 2024. The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries is ready to synergize with other ministries/institutions to make the development successful which aims to increase national shrimp production.
Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Sakti Wahyu Trenggono explained that the largest development would be carried out in Waingapu, East Sumba Regency, East Nusa Tenggara on an area of 1,800 hectares. Potential synergies to support the construction of ponds in Waingapu include the development of port infrastructure, housing, clean water and lighting systems.
