UNICEF Papua Help 4 Million U.S. Dollars: - 11 February 2011

United Nations Agency for Children (UNICEF) provided assistance funds of 4 million U.S. dollars for the development of educational programs in the province of Papua and West Papua during 2010-2012.

UNICEF-AusAID funding is expected to finance various programs, including school-based management, mentoring, making a strategic plan of education, training, education programs, and other activities related to increasing the quality of education in Papua and West Papua. UNICEF is most concerned in four provinces in Indonesia, namely Papua, West Papua, Aceh, and East Nusa Tenggara.

In addition to providing financial aid UNICEF is also providing funding assistance to managers in management development activities. Several other districts in Papua and West Papua, also got the attention of UNICEF programs in the fields of education; namely: Biak Numfor , Jayawijaya , Jayapura , Mimika , Manokwari and Sorong.
Thousands of social foster homes in poor quality: - 20 September 2009

UNICEF, Save the Children, and STKS Bandung conducted survey in Bandung and found out that 90 percent of 6,000 social foster homes for children are in poor quality either of nursery system or infrastructure matters. It is recorded that around 138,000 children live in orphanage. The government provides around 67 billion rupiah which is used for children daily routine and so far has not supported for infrastructure matters.
