PKK Request to Improve the Family Welfare: www.metrojambi.co.id - 5 April 2010


Empowerment and Family Welfare (PKK) requested to enhance the role for the realization of family welfare. PKK can play many roles in the family welfare. Among them are cleaning up the environment, waste water treatment system (SPAL), clean living and healthy behavior (PHBS), prevention of malnutrition, development of small enterprises and household / home industry.

The empowerment of families can be done through various ways; in line with the importance of the role of family empowerment, all related parties are expected to support the PKK.

The scheme is called the Women's Savings and Loan (SPP) and is provided by a government community empowerment program called the PNPM Mandiri. Under the SPP scheme, women in poverty-stricken villages in many places across the country can apply for loans to fund their businesses. The PNPM Mandiri mostly funds infrastructure projects and many SPP beneficiaries now have thriving businesses.
