Malang's thriving property business climate has proven to boost the businesses around it, among which also included the renovation business. According to Amtama Sanitary and Ceramics Supermarket, the growth of the real estate business in Malang in 2007 reached 18 percent. Prices of the construction material have risen by 17 to 18 percent. The highest rise was in rooftop tiling.

Domestic cement sales from January to November 2005 rose 5.9 percent from 27.244 tons November 2004 to 28.864 million tons. However, the total cement export in the same period of time actually went dropped 13.4 percent from 7.018 million in 2004 to 6.077 million in 2005. Cement producers feel that the capacity of the cement industry should be set in 2006 to avoid lack of cement in 2008.
PT Semen Gresik targets to sum up its due diligence test by mid 2006. Adding 2.5 million tons to its capacity can be done in 2006. In January to November 2005, Gresik cement's sales, which dominates 44 percent of the market, increased 4.2 percent to 14.851 million tons compared to 14.249 million tons in 2004.
The management of PT Semen Padang stated that the company would take certain steps to reach its net profit target in 2006. It plans to divert the export sale to the domestic market that gives a higher margin.
Cement consumption in Java from January-November 2005 rose 7.1 percent compared to 2004. The rise was caused by the increase in cement consumption in Banten of 20.7 percent, from 1.575 million tons in 2004 to 1.902 million tons in 2005.
Regarding the total national market, in the first 11 months of 2005, there was an increase in sales volume of 5.9 percent from 27.244 million tons in 2004 to 28.864 million tons. Out of all the sale areas, cement consumption decrease only happened in Celebes by 0.8 percent, or 1,551,005 tons. It seems that cement demand, both in domestic and export, will keep growing. In 2003, the demand in the local market reached 27.541 million tons and export reached 7.338 million tons. The total export in the same period of time dropped 13.4 percent to 6.077 million tons from 7.018 million tons in 2004.
