The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) said that there are business opportunities that can be worked on by national maritime and fisheries business players, which are related to high economic value water ornamental plants. This was conveyed by the Head of Research and HR Agency of Marine and Fisheries (BRSDM KP) KKP, Sjarief Widjaja.

According to Sjarief, the economic scale of the business opportunity for water ornamental plants is actually still considered below the surface, so the information needs to be explored and production is encouraged for exports. Aquatic plants or aquatic flora are part of freshwater fisheries that have high economic value, but most people do not know the benefits and uses of these plants. The Research and HR Agency of Marine and Fisheries, began research on aquatic plants which began with data collection of endemic species of Indonesian water plants which has the potential as an aesthetic or aquarium decoration and as a medicine.
