The government is targeting growth in the musical instrument industry in 2019 by 6-6.5%. The increasing demand from outside and the development of industries on various scales is considered to be the strength of this industry. This was conveyed by the Director of the Textile, Leather, Footwear and Miscellaneous of the Ministry of Industry, Muhdori.
Muhdori is optimistic that the target can be achieved in line with increased investment in this sector. In 2017 the investment value reached US $ 31.3 million. In 2014 the investment value reached US $ 12.4 million, increasing in 2015 to US $ 17.5 million, but dropped in 2016 to US $ 1.31 million. However, the number immediately increased in 2017. Small-scale industry also continues to grow along with the increasing demand from domestic. Muhdori also targets to increase exports by 7% by 2019, in line with the continued growth of exports in this sector. Along with the development of production, he also targets an investment growth of 15% in 2019.

Muhammad Isa Daud or often known as Utoh Amad (73) from Paya Teungoh Village, Simpang Keuramat District, North Aceh Regency, is a craftsman of traditional Acehnese musical instruments that penetrates the international market. One of the traditional Acehnese musical instruments that he is devoted to is rapai geleng, canang ceureukeh, drums, serune kalee (thrush), tambo, lusong tunjang, jeungki (rice pounder) and several other musical instruments upon request.
"Making this traditional musical instrument is my daily livelihood to meet the needs of my family, and thank God there are several musical instruments, such as the rapai shaker, requests to go abroad," said Utoh Amad to AJNN, Monday (31/10).
