The Indonesian Employers Association (Apindo) assesses that the decline in the contribution of the manufacturing sector to gross domestic product (GDP) occurs because the use of technology tends to be stagnant.

Deputy Chairperson of Apindo, Shinta W. Kamdani, said that machine rejuvenation in several industrial sectors was not even carried out. As a result, the productivity of the industry is low. According to him, the difficulty in implementing engine rejuvenation is due to the lack of capital.

The Ministry of Industry is again rolling out a machine restructuring program for the textile and textile product (TPT) industry and footwear industry in 2024. The program is aimed at renewing machines and is considered capable of increasing productivity and efficiency, thereby spurring the competitiveness of the company.

The initial budget disbursed for the machine restructuring program in 2015 was IDR 250 billion with a replacement budget per company of IDR 5 billion. Evaluation in 2016 and 2017 This program was restarted in 2021, there were eight companies that received it. In 2022 there were 15 companies, and in 2023 there were 12 companies. In 2024, the budget allocation for machine restructuring to the TPT industry reached IDR 35 billion for 45 companies.
