Production of glass is hampered by gas supply: http://bataviase.co.id/node/757983/3 August 2011


Domestic flat glass industry has had difficulties increasing production during the first half of this year due to limited gas supply. This industry is only able to reach half of the target rate of 6% growth this year. Manufacturers are having trouble adjusting the volume of production, especially of high-quality glass due to the unstable gas supply. Yet today many requests for higher-quality flat glass for the building project or car glass continue.

President Director of PT. Philips Indonesia addressed the gas supply problems in the push up the cost of glass production in the Philips factory incandescent and fluorescent tubes in Surabaya. More than 80% of glass production in Philips Surabaya based factory supplies the needs of light production companies abroad.

The National Standardization Board held a series of road shows to socialize the SNI Award 2009. For the occasion, the Board visited areas such as Karawang, Palembang, Medan, Tangerang, Surabaya and Makassar.
