According to Minister of Industry MS Hidayat, the growth of the food industry and beverage consumption by 60% to make plastics (packaging) increases.

"Demand for plastic packaging industry is mainly driven by the growth of food and beverage and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) by 60%," said Minister of Industry MS Hidayat in Building Ministry of Industry, Jakarta, Tuesday (10/09/2013).

According to Hidayat, the level of per capita consumption of plastic products per year in Indonesia is still low compared to neighboring countries. In Indonesia, the level of consumption is only 10 kg / capita / year. As for Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand reaching 40 kilograms / capita / year.

Now, the plastic packaging industry, amounting to 892 pieces capable of production of 1.65 million tons / year. Its products are quite diverse ranging from rigid packaging, flexible packaging, thermoforming, and extrusion. '' In the future we will continue to push the industry to continue to expand its production capacity, so that we can compete in the global arena, "he concluded.
