Industry Minister Saleh Husin inaugurate the National Innovation Centre Rattan (Pirnas). The existence Pirnas expected to encourage the development of national rattan industry.

He stated, this facility is able to develop new designs and innovative furniture of rattan. The existence Pirnas become part of the government's move to build agro-based processing industries in Palu, Central Sulawesi. Moreover, he added, Palu has been designated as a special economic zone.

"The purpose of government is no longer the case to prevent the export of raw materials result of natural resources (SDA) us. We build value-added industry here, so that people can enjoy, including a job creation effort. The existence Pirnas will also encourage those efforts," Saleh said after inaugurating Pirnas in Palu, Central Sulawesi, on Saturday (6/12).

Saleh highlighted, weak competitiveness of Indonesian rattan industry. In fact, he said, Central Sulawesi is a supplier of rattan world needs. Indonesian rattan products compete with similar goods from China, Taiwan and Europe, both in the domestic and export markets.

Travel rattan craft will be opened in the village Tegalwangi, Cirebon regency, West Java, considering the rattan craftsmen in the village has penetrated the global market.

Head of Development and Cooperatives and SME revenues SMEs Cirebon, Agun revealed, it has worked with several departments at the local government to discuss the production of rattan tour.
