To save the fate of 6 million workers the tobacco sector, the government is requested to encourage the export of cigarettes through bilateral trade.

Cigarette industry strongly supports the policy on tobacco RRP meant, but it expects that RPP is concerned to the survival of tobacco and clove farmers and small factories which involved from upstream to downstream, since the presence of clove cigarette industry is almost 92 percent in the country while production of white cigarettes is only about 8 percent.

Currently, cigarette excise tax amounting to Rp.60 trillion plus VAT Rp.70 trillion.

The management of British American Tobacco (BAT) will continue to manage the two companied it owns in Indonesia, PT. Bentoel Internasional Investama Tbk. (RMBA) and PT. BAT Indonesia Tbk. (BATI). British American Tobacco owns 71.11 percent share in BAT Indonesia. Post-acquisition, the second largest tobacco company in the world will hold 85 percent share in Bentoel Internasional Investama. The management of the companies will be done separately, but will remain synergized. Clove cigarette continues to maintain 90 percent hold of Indonesia’s cigarette industry market.
