Clove Cigarette Production Reaches 90% : May 2011

National clove cigarette production capacity reached 90 percent of the total national cigarette production that reached 248 billion sticks in 2010. During this time, exports of cigarettes reached five to eight of the total national production of cigarettes.

Cigarette export process is not easy because it is still hampered the protection policy in each country's export destinations. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) is still discussing the Draft Tobacco Products for the Health Security (RPP). In the RPP, the national tobacco industry will get a much restricted in marketing their products. Regulation has the potential to threaten the development of the national tobacco industry.
