Government Bangka Belitung (Babel administration) revealed food products of small and medium industries (SMEs) in the region managed to penetrate the markets of the United States (US) because it has a distinctive taste and quality.

"Food products such as crackers kricu, kemplang, brittle, crispy squid and other products made from raw fish quite interested in US society," said Head of SME Department of Industry and Trade (Industry and Trade) Babel provincial Riza Aryani, Monday (21/9).

He explained that the export of semi-finished food products is still done on an individual basis so that local governments is difficult to monitor and record the number and value of exports of the food product.

"The perpetrator SME market the product independently, by utilizing technology, business associates, acquaintances and others," he said. According to him, the local specialty food products in great demand overseas market because it has a distinctive taste and quality.

PT. Sekar Laut Tbk this year aiming for sales of Rp.850 billion, higher than last year's sales amounted to Rp.745 billion. The increase in sales is in line rising market demand for consumer products such as crackers and dip.

Director of PT. Sekar Laut Tbk said, an effort that has been achieved is already recorded total production of 17,500 tons per year. It consists of crackers and chili products. For chili sauce carrying 5,000 tons per year and 12,000 tons cracker per year. Cracker products is high due to the public interest to this snack is great.
