Indonesian Coffee Industry will promote and market their coffee in Indonesia in the Specialty Coffee Association of America's (SCAA) 23rd Annual Symposium and Exposition, held in Houston, United States (U.S.) 28 April to 1 May 2011.

Indonesia was represented by the Association of Indonesian Coffee Exporters (AEKI), Specialty Coffee Association of Indonesia (AKSI).

In the exhibition, the Indonesian delegation held meetings and agreed on the transaction Indonesia's coffee exports to the United States. To note, the United States is the largest market in the world's coffee products.

Specialty coffee has a special flavor than regular coffee continues to increase market share of coffee in the United States with growth of around 20 percent in a period of 25 years.

Improving Indonesia's coffee exports would help the coffee farmers and their families, labor, and provide a positive impact on supporting industries other coffee. Indonesian coffee farmers earn about 8,000 people. Meanwhile, 80,000 Indonesian workers working in other industries associated with coffee.

It is predicted that there will be supply shortage in the world coffee market due to increasing demands of the commodity. The recently-held International Coffee Conference in Guatemala discussed the issue of tightening coffee supply despite increasing consumption of the commodity. According to a representative of PT. Aneka Coffee Industry, the world consumes 7.8 million tons of coffee last year, 15 years ago; the world consumed 4.8 million tons. In short, there has been significant growth. To anticipate the shortage, the International Coffee Organization (ICO) is requesting coffee-producing countries to increase their coffee's production and quality. According to the Indonesian Coffee Exporter and Industry Association projects that coffee production in 2010 will decline to climate issues.
