PT Harendong Green Farms and PT Bukit Sari from Indonesia carrying premium and organic tea variants such as oolong medium tea, black tea, jasmine tea, and white tea fill the Indonesian Pavilion. The tea plantation has pocketed organic certificates from United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), European Union, Japanese Agricultural Standard (JAS), Canadian Organic Standards (COS), Non-GMO, Halal, and Organic Indonesia. This is a force for promotion and boosts the competitiveness of Indonesian tea in the US. This was conveyed by Head of Indonesian Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) Los Angeles, Antonius Budiman.
The challenge ahead is to educate the US market that Indonesian tea has quality and volume that can meet market demand. In addition, it also needs to introduce the quality, price, history, and culture of Indonesian tea. Indonesia's tea export to the US increased 33 percent in 2016, which reached the value of exports of 9 million US dollars.
