Tea processing industry is one industry that was hit by the long dry season this year. The rain that never came from the beginning of the semester II disrupt the growth of the tea leaf so that the supply of tea raw material crunch. As a result, the tea processing industry was forced to reduce their production capacity. Even for the sake of maintaining the efficiency of production, tea processing factories were forced to work in rotation. When in the normal conditions they can grind 700 tons of tea leaf per day, now only 500 tons per day.
Domestic Market Tea Industry Has Minimum Certification: http://suaramerdeka.com, 8 February 2011

Domestic tea industry market apparently still has minimal certification, especially folk tea industry which are certified only 10% of the total land area of 150,000 hectares in Indonesia. National Reference Group on Tea' (NRG) or Indonesian Tea Certification Forum (FSTI) reveals, the certification is inseparable from the cost which producer must spend but often what happens is the limited funds and knowledge.

Over the past, circulated product is often only based on industrial license and still not supported by the standardization of food safety in particular which is becoming a requirement to compete in global markets.

Each year the largest tea producer in West Java supply up to 20 thousand tons to Central Java to be processed and then marketed as for the certification of folk domestic tea industry in West Java, there are only three namely in Cianjur, West Bandung and Sumedang, newly acquired international certifications in Garut regency in Dayeuh Manggung plantation.

Currently comes some form of certification schemes with different requirements that must be met by producers, including the Ethical Tea Partnership (ETP), Organic Certification, Rainforest Alliance and UTZ Certified.
