Bauxite Allowable for Export Starting 2017: October 2016

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) allows mineral concentrate of nickel ore and bauxite to be re-exported from next year. Therefore, ESDM is currently preparing a revision of Government Regulation (PP) No 1 of 2014 on the Implementation of Mineral and Coal Business Activities.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Teguh Pamudji, said that the concept of the beleid revision is to loosen the concentrate export, which will be given to mining companies that have special mining permit (IUPK) which is a change from the work contract (KK). In addition, the government also provides ease of exporting concentrates to companies with unfinished production operation mining permits (IUP OP) to build its smelters. While those who do not want to build a smelter can cooperate with state-owned mines to export their mining products, or invite others who have smelters.
Economy weakens, Bauxite Businessman Remind Government about Incentives : August 2015

Currently, the Indonesian economy is weakening, bauxite mining entrepreneur remind the government about incentives. According to Director of PT Harita Prima Abadi Mineral (HPAM) Erry Sofyan, was tangible tax holiday incentive or government policies do income tax reduction or removal of a temporary basis. Tax holiday was necessary to make the price of bauxite can compete.

Erry record shows that price competition in the bauxite market is fairly tight. Australia, for example, offer price of 320 US dollars per ton. While, according to Erry, bauxite production costs it is at the price of 376 US dollars per ton. Because of that, according to Erry, competitive price bid of the company is 390 US dollars per ton with an option price increase per year between four and five percent.
