BPN: 7.8 Million Displaced Land in Indonesia: September 2010

National Land Agency (BPN) still found at least 7.8 million hectares of abandoned land across Indonesia. In fact, idle land could be used for agriculture, energy and housing. Therefore, BPN continue mapping abandoned lands to be used for community benefit.

Mapping of abandoned land in Indonesia was carried out as mandated by Government Regulation No. 11/2010. The Government is currently preparing the bill for Land and Agrarian Reform PP planned for completion in December 2010.
Regency Government of Semarang Asks Forestry Department to Update Aerial Photos of Forests:, 20 March 2009

The Regency Government of Malang is pushing the Forestry Department to immediately update aerial photos of forest map. Presently, they are still using former photos featuring the former state of the forest. As the forest has suffered 30 percent damage, the updated photos are absolutely compulsory. Based on present data, the forest area of Malang Regency stands at 127,089 hectares, 59,000 of which are managed by Perhutani.
