Forest and Land Rehabilitation City of Tarakan, Pertamina EP to plant 15,450 mangroves: February 2011

Pertamina EP planting 15,450 mangrove seedlings to rehabilitate unproductive land area of 6.18 hectares in Tarakan, East Kalimantan. Mangrove planting is done to prevent abrasion of the sea and restore forest lands previously used by the people but was not productive, is also useful to restore the marine life that can live in mangrove forests. Planting site alongside the river Pamusian up to the environmental cottage Pesantren Hidayatullah Eastern District of Tarakan

To boost citizen participation in regards to forest rehabilitation activities, the government will distribute bamboo seeds to five groups of farmers. The seeds will be planted near rivers such as Rongkong, Baliase and Masamba. In addition, there will also be activities to boost interest to plant things though the green camp action.
