Dairy Cow Breeding Business Less Interested: http://industri.kontan.co.id/news/usaha-pembibitan-sapi-perah-kurang-diminati/23 August 2017

Still a few who glance at the business of selling dairy cows. In fact, this business opportunity is quite promising. This was conveyed by Sugiono, Director of the Center for Breeding of Superior Livestock and Forage of Animal Feed (BBPTU-HPT) Baturraden, Wednesday (23/8). This is due to lack of understanding. Although it takes three years to start selling, but the business of livestock breeds, especially dairy cows will be profitable.

Currently, the government unit that provides livestock seed is only BBPTU-HPT Baturraden. Although there are also sellers of livestock seedlings in areas such as Lembang are built by BBPTU-HPT Baturraden. The coaching shows the quality of seeds sold. Maintenance for livestock breeding business requires operational standards, including related to cage hygiene and handling of disease.

The number of dairy cattle in Indonesia is still very small. Farmers in Indonesia generally only have 3 to 5 head of cattle. The amount of cow milk production is also very small, only 1,500 tons per year.
Dairy Cattle Farmers Ask the Government to Return of Partnership Regulations: https://katadata.co.id/berita/2018/08/11/peternak-sapi-perah-minta-pemerintah-kembalikan-aturan-kemitraan/11 August 2018

The loss of regulatory partnerships with the milk processing industry can make the market certainty for dairy farmers reduced. Dairy farmers asked the government to return the regulation of the partnership with the milk processing industry. The amendment of the Minister of Agriculture Regulation No. 26 of 2017 which eliminates the partnership obligation makes the certainty of the purchase of production of farmers is lost.

Chairman of The Indonesian Dairy Farmers Association (APSPI) Agus Warsito stated that the certainty of the milk market has the potential to decrease because the formation of prices for domestic dairy cows can make industrial players arbitrary. Even though the price of domestic cow milk has been depressed. ASPSI said that the production cost of one kilogram of domestic cow's milk had reached Rp. 6,500, but the industrial purchase price was only around Rp. 5,000.

Responding to the request, Director of Processing and Marketing of Animal Husbandry, Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health, Ministry of Agriculture, Fini Murfiani said that the partnership process was underway. Partnership filings were recorded as of August 6, 2018 as many as 118 companies consisting of 30 milk processing industries and 88 companies.
