Indonesia Medical Device Industry Market Potential: https://m.tempo.co/read/news/2016/11/22/090822036/pasar-industri-alat-kesehatan-indonesia-potensial/22 November 2016
The market for medical devices industry Indonesia has a great potential, stated Chairman of the Association of Health Tools and Laboratory Indonesia (Gakeslab) Sugihadi. "The potential market is huge. Especially with the National Health Insurance Scheme (JKN), with great potential," said Sugihadi in Jakarta, Monday, November 21, 2016.

Sugihadi entitled to deliver the potential of the domestic industry filled. But the domestic market is currently only meet 10 per cent of the existing needs. He hopes the medical device industry from abroad would hold domestic industry for producing and developing medical devices in Indonesia. Because, this industry requires high technology that is often more owned by foreign manufacturers.
The government's strategy to increase competitiveness of the medical devices industry : http://www.antaranews.com/berita/523975/strategi-pemerintah-tingkatkan-daya-saing-industri-alat-kesehatan/16 October 2015
In efforts to increase the competitiveness of the medical devices industry, the strategic steps taken by the government through the Ministry of Industry during the period 2015 - 2019, inter alia to develop a road map or road map medical devices industry.

"Kemenperin continue to coordinate with relevant ministries or agencies such as the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Commerce, BPPT, LIPI, and Academicians in the preparation of the roadmap," said Industry Minister Saleh Husin through a press release on Friday.

Ministry of Industry, said Saleh, also develop related technologies in an integrated manner, including components, raw materials and auxiliary materials; establish a center of excellence that includes R & D and production of medical devices for the purposes of mass base in the country. Then, develop human resources with high competence in product design engineering medical devices, including measuring and testing.

According to Saleh, the ministry is also promoting alkes domestic product through the Medical Device Industry Business Forum which brought together industry players to consumers such as hospitals and health clinics. Saleh added that the medical equipment technology development efforts can be done through cooperation between the government, academia, and industry.
