China continues to negotiate salt with Indonesia in order to become a joint supplier of Australia to meet national needs. This was conveyed by Marketing Supervisor of Zigong 9D Salt Industry Group Co. Ltd., Xiao Yang. According to him, it has long been negotiating on the price and volume of salt with the Indonesian side, but until now there has been no meeting point about the price.

Based on data at the Ministry of Trade of Indonesia, the government has a quota of imported salt consumption of 226,124 tons this year. People's salt production in some coastal areas of the archipelago dropped from the normal 166 thousand tons per month to only 6,200 tons per month.
