Asian and Pacific countries agreed to reduce the capture of young blue fin tuna at 15 percent. The agreement is the conclusion of the meeting for four days in forum Central Pacific Fisheries Commission and the West (WCPFC) in Fukuoka, Japan, who in nine countries including the U.S., China, South Korea and Taiwan. The participating countries agree to reduce the catch of blue fin tuna aged three years or younger started since 2014, amounting to 15 percent of the average between 2002 and 2004. WCPFC Forum was formed in 2004 to refer to the UN treaty to protect and manage tuna and fish availability in the central and western Pacific region.

The number of tuna catches in Indonesia, which continues to decline, has been affected by the export volume of Indonesian tuna. The Indonesian Tuna Association (Astuin) noted that Indonesia's tuna product rankings (tuna and tuna products) currently dropped to 9th position from 6th in 2012.

Secretary General of Indonesian Tuna Association (Astuin) Hendra Sugandhi said the position of Indonesia even now overtaken Papua New Guinea which now occupies the first position for the number of tuna catches.
