Natural Rubber Exports Dropped Nearly 50% in 5 Years: https://ekonomi.bisnis.com/read/20231227/257/1727533/ekspor-karet-alam-tergerus-nyaris-50-dalam-5-tahun-ini-penyebabnya/27 December 2023
The Association of Indonesian Rubber Companies (Gapkindo) revealed that the value of rubber exports has eroded by almost 50% in the last 5 years. This condition is inevitable as a result of continuously depressed rubber prices and global geopolitical shocks. Based on Gapkindo data, national natural rubber production in 2023 is estimated at 2.25 million tons, down from last year's production of 2.65 million tons. Likewise in terms of exports, which fell from 2.08 million tonnes in 2022 to 1.76 million tonnes by the end of 2023?

Waban Pestalotiopsis sp which occurs in 500,000 hectares of rubber land, thereby eliminating 30% of national production; moreover, Indonesia is currently experiencing a scarcity of raw materials which means imports continue to increase every year. The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) policy is considered to be an obstacle to global natural rubber trade. This regulation is aimed at minimizing consumption of products originating from supply chains originating from land degradation or deforestation. Meanwhile, the EUDR policy is said to be effective in January 2025. The government is still in a position to raise objections.
Production No maximum, the Government will Re-planting Whole Rubber Gardens: https://economy.okezone.com/read/2017/11/30/320/1823129/produksi-tak-maksimal-pemerintah-bakal-remajakan-seluruh-kebun-karet/30 November 2017
The government will re-plant the rubber plantations because the level of natural rubber absorption in the country is much lower than other neighboring countries such as Thailand and Vietnam. In Indonesia the ratio of production of sap in one hectare only get 1 ton of sap, while in Vietnam and Thailand in one hectare can get 2 ton.

Chairman of the Association of Rubber entrepreneurs of Indonesia Province of South Sumatra, Alex K Eddy said, this condition is caused by rubber tree in Indonesia is old tree so that not maximal yield rubber latex. Through re-planting this rubber plantation, will be able to increase the amount of rubber sap uptake. In the future, some rubber trees will be gradually replaced by higher quality tree species, with a total of 1.8 million hectares expected to produce 3.5 million tons of rubber latex.

Re-planting will be carried out entirely on rubber plantations in Indonesia, where it is targeted at a minimum of 15,000 hectares of rubber plantations per year.
