President Jokowi ensured that in the next two years there will be no more asphalt imports but will be carried out in Buton, Southeast Sulawesi. He conveyed this while visiting the asphalt mine owned by PT Wika Bitumen, Pasarwajo District, Buton Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, Tuesday (27/9/2022).

During the visit, Jokowi saw the great potential for asphalt production in Southeast Sulawesi. He said that Indonesia's asphalt imports so far have touched the figure of 5 million tons per year. However, it turns out that Southeast Sulawesi has great potential for asphalt but has not been implemented. Jokowi hopes that this great potential can be realized soon from Buton so that there will be no more imports of asphalt from other countries, especially when he knows there is a potential of 662 million tons of asphalt that can be produced from Buton.
