International Markets of Ornamental Plants are Wide Open: http://www.suaramerdeka.com/news/detail/7728/Pasar-Internasional-Tanaman-Hias-Terbuka-Lebar/22 November 2017
International markets of ornamental plants are still wide open. Indonesian Ornamental Crops Research Institute (Balithi) Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia noted, the international market of superior varieties reached US $ 60 billion. However, the potential export of ornamental plants of Indonesia's superior varieties, can only suffice US $ 20 million. Indonesia currently ranks 49 countries in the world as the best floriculture producer. This was conveyed by Principal Researcher of Balithi, Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, Budi Marwoto.

Budi said, his side encourages local governments and cultivators in the region to continue to drive the production sector in order to achieve higher export value. For the current production, Indonesia is only able to produce 600 million stalks. While the overseas market still needs very much at all. Potential production of ornamental plants in Indonesia can still be improved, because Indonesia is the second largest producer of floriculture species in the world, reaching 29,000 species, the second largest after Brazil.
High Economic Value Ornamental Plants, KKP: Can Be a Business Opportunity: https://www.wartaekonomi.co.id/read202978/tanaman-hias-bernilai-ekonomi-tinggi-kkp-bisa-jadi-peluang-bisnis.html/10 November 2018
The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) said that there are business opportunities that can be worked on by national maritime and fisheries business players, which are related to high economic value water ornamental plants. This was conveyed by the Head of Research and HR Agency of Marine and Fisheries (BRSDM KP) KKP, Sjarief Widjaja

According to Sjarief, the economic scale of the business opportunity for water ornamental plants is actually still considered below the surface, so the information needs to be explored and production is encouraged for exports. Aquatic plants or aquatic flora are part of freshwater fisheries that have high economic value, but most people do not know the benefits and uses of these plants. The Research and HR Agency of Marine and Fisheries, began research on aquatic plants which began with data collection of endemic species of Indonesian water plants which has the potential as an aesthetic or aquarium decoration and as a medicine.
