PT Siantar Top Tbk’s performance in September 2004 went down compared to the same period of time the year before as a result of unhealthy competition among the noodle marketing area. The total sales of cracker based snacks, instant noodles, and candy between January-September 2004 was Rp.512.5 billion, or down 3.15 percent compared to the same period of time the year before (Rp.529.2 billion). Although the company’s income increased from Rp.32.6 billion to Rp.34.5 billion, their profit decreased from Rp.23.7 billion to Rp.21.1 billion as shown in the unaudited financial report. Despite all that, the company’s performance is still expected to be sufficient. Sales by the end of the year is still expected to rise 1.2 percent (over Rp.711 billion) compared to 2003.
