Lonsum Trains Cacao Farmers Bisnis Indonesia, page T6 (25-July-2006) PT London Sumatera (Lonsum) Tbk has sent 11 cacao farmers from Bulukumba to follow training on how to cultivate cacao in Trebasala Estate, Banyuwangi, East Java. The training will include knowledge on how to cultivate cacao, harvest, post-harvest, and how to process the cacao well. The cacao potential in Bulukumba is actually very high. However, the area only produces 500 kg/hectare/year. Meanwhile, in the Lonsum fields the production reached 2 tons per hectare per year.
London Sumatra Returns to Profit The Jakarta Post, page 14 (1-April-2006) PT Perusahaan Perkebunan London Sumatra Indonesia posted a profit last year on higher sales and lower costs after restructuring debt. London Sumatra had net income of Rp.355.7 billion (US$ 39 million) in the year ended December 31, compared with a net loss of Rp.247.2 billion in the year earlier period. Sales rose 11 percent to Rp.1.83 trillion. London Sumatra in 2004 restructured US$ 228 million in debt, which included issuing new debt and a debt-to-equity swap.
