Pelindo II Aids Funds in Building Partnership

PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) II has funded at least Rp.6.17 billion for the partnership and environmental building programs in the first semester of 2006. Rp.4.1 billion is for the partnership program and Rp.2.05 billion is for the environmental program. For the partnership program the fund is 45.7 percent more than the same period of time in 2005, which amounted to Rp.2.8 billion. The funds will be distributed to 209 partners in industry worth Rp.1.2 billion, trade worth Rp.1.7 billion, farming worth Rp.41 million, Rp fishery worth Rp.51 million, services worth Rp.559.75 million and others worth Rp.28 million.
Flow of Goods Through Pelindo II Drops

In the first semester of 2006, the flow of international and domestic goods through the harbour run by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia II (Pelindo II) each have dropped 8.5 percent and 4.6 percent. However, a number of domestic route ship operators doubt that this is a drastic drop. The domestic cargo volume was considered to drop more than 30 percent. At the present, the cargo in ships is relatively low, difficult to reach only 50 percent for the domestic route. In order to obtain a cargo volume of up to 70 percent, the ships would have to wait for up to 8 days at the Tanjung Priok Harbour.
In the first semester of 2006, the international flow of goods through Pelindo II was recorded at 19.8 million tons, down 8.5 percent compared to 2005’s 20.7 million tons. The flow of imported goods dropped from 8.7 million tons to 8.5 million tons, and export dropped from 12.01 million tons to 11.3 million tons.
The flow of domestic goods has also dropped 4.6 percent from 29.4 million tons in the first semester of 2005 to 28.9 million tons in the same period of time in 2006.
