Workers completed the manufacture of the raw material cotton mattress in one of the cottage industry in the village Dalaka, Sindue, Donggala, Central Sulawesi, on Thursday (5/3). Business actors kapok pillows and mattresses in the region are forced to bring cotton from outside the area to maintain the continuity of their business because of the lack of rejuvenation of cottonwood trees in the area which resulted in further increase in the price of the mattress and pillows.

Pati, Karaban Village in Gabus Pati District, Central Java is a producer of mattresses from high quality kapok. Most cotton mattress products are shipped to various cities in Kalimantan and Sumatra. Some are even sent to Malaysia and Vietnam. Prices start from Rp.200 thousand to Rp 300 thousand per piece according to size.

One craftsman said that every month can send at least 400 pieces of cotton mattress to Kalimantan. The uniqueness of the mattress is if the rainy season is warm but if the summer feels a bit cold. Similarly, the outer layer fabric, made varies with attractive colors and images. So that consumers are very interested. For raw material is very easy because kapok many found in Pati area. This effort involves dozens of workers in his village. The effort that has been occupied for years and generations is able to provide tens of millions of income per month.
