Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries is actively Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries is actively (KKP) is trying hard to develop the ornamental fish export commodities from Indonesia. Value of ornamental fish exports in 2011 stood at U.S. $ 13.262 million, while the beginning of the year until April 2012 the value reached U.S. $ 5.2 million. Trend of ornamental fish export volume increased an average of 23.36% in the period 2007 to 2011. Five states Indonesian ornamental fish export destinations, namely: Singapore, Japan, USA, Malaysia and China. Currently ornamental fish production centers spread across several regions in Indonesia such as Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua and Nusa Tenggara. Ornamental fish native to Indonesia that it is interested in the export market; Botia ornamental fish from Sumatra, arowana fish, Betta fish from Borneo, fish Banggai Cardinal of Sulawesi, and Arowana fish from Papua.

The use of technology BioFlok believed to be the solution to the commodity catfish aquaculture sector which has been the flagship. The technology, eligible to be used as a proven environmentally friendly and can improve the quality of catfish meat to be harvested.

Differences in taste of meat produced because besides fed pellets, catfish were fed flock or clumps composed of living organisms such as algae, bacteria, etc. In addition to giving the benefits of increased quality of meat, this technology is also able to suppress the artificial feed or pellets.
