Reviewing Indonesia's Participation in International Organizations: http://www.rri.co.id/post/editorial/754/editorial/mengkaji_kembali_keikutsertaan_indonesia_dalam_organisasi_internasional.html/24 December 2016

The Government will review Indonesia's participation in various international organizations. There are at least 75 organizations that will be reviewed to decide whether Indonesia will resign or continue to be a member of the organization of the international organization. On the other hand Indonesia will still struggle to become a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UN).

The Government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has indeed ensured that the exit of Indonesia from a number of international organizations will not affect the desire to become a Non-Permanent Member of the UN Security Council. However, the decision to evaluate the participation of Indonesia must be based on a mature calculation. Calculations from the political, economic, social, cultural, to security. Benefit side should be the main consideration, considering the participation in an international organization brings the consequences of the budget is not small. At least membership dues. That's why if the benefits that Indonesia gains from the participation of an international organization is not significant anymore, leaving the organization is a realistic option. For efficiency, we need to support the government's move.
