The National Economic Recovery Program (PEN) also supports the national education sector in helping to expedite the distance learning process and helping the welfare of educators and education personnel, especially non-civil servant or honorary teachers and lecturers.
Two ministries that oversee education in Indonesia, namely the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) and the Ministry of Religion (Kemenag) have allocated a number of budgets to support teaching and learning activities, including to provide the Wage Subsidy Assistance (BSU) program for educators and non-civil servant education personnel and internet quota subsidies.
Meanwhile, the realization of the National Economic Recovery (PEN) program has shown an increase again. As of November 23, 2020, the realization of the PEN budget has reached 60.9 percent or Rp.423.23 trillion of the total budget ceiling of Rp.695.2 trillion, an increase of Rp.59.57 trillion or almost Rp.60 trillion from the realization in October 2020 of Rp.363.66 trillion. The Head of the National Export Development Task Force, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, explained that in an effort to accelerate budget absorption, the PEN budget has been reallocated, by focusing on the social protection sector and the health sector.
