Biji Kapuk, which has been considered to be of no use, has now become one of the mainstays of Indonesia's exports. The kapok harvest period of many seeds scattered on the ground, waste that is considered useless, but currently cottonwood seeds have economic value in the country of Korea, even worth hundreds of millions of rupiah.

"In Korea, kapok seeds are used as animal feed, after going through the process of kapok seeds into oil, the pressed cake is combined with other ingredients, because basically the kapok seed meal is tasteless and odorless, so other ingredients need to be combined to stimulate the taste in the feed livestock, "said the head of the Semarang plant quarantine section, Cisilia Triwidiyanti, in her official statement, Tuesday (7/30/2019).

He said, the Semarang Agriculture Quarantine Officer had certified 100,000 kilograms of cottonwood seeds worth Rp.343 million to Korea.

The future of the cottonwood industry could be bright. The market opportunities are wide open. Especially for the international market. Apart from India, a number of buyers from Qatar, Turkey, and Italy began to be interested in this kapok fiber product.

Adimas Ramadan, kapok fiber entrepreneur from CV Sinar Mulyo is quite optimistic about this business. His company at the end of 2020 had made its first export to India although it was still subscribing to other companies. However, at the beginning of 2021, he has already exported himself or traded directly to buyers.

The warehouse, which is located in Karaban Village, Gabus District, can process 1.5 tons of kapok fiber every day. One month at least can produce 22 tons of kapok fiber, with a total of four times to export. Once exported one container with a capacity of about 5.5 tons
