Business and Precious Stones Agate is believed to be more promising in terms of the economy for the long term. This was revealed by Reza, one of the traders who took part in the exhibition "Gemstone Fair" at Blok M Square, Jakarta, Sunday (02/11/2014).

The jewelry industry is one of the mainstay sectors in spurring the national economy through the contribution of foreign exchange from the achievement of its export value. Proven to be competitive in the global arena, the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) continues to encourage increased market access for jewelry and accessory industry players so that their exports will increase.

"Amid the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, the value of Indonesian jewelry exports actually increased 76% from US$ 1.47 billion in 2020 to US$ 2.59 billion in 2021. Data from Trademap.org shows, the main destination countries for jewelry exports from Indonesia includes Switzerland (35%), the United States (26%), the United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong (11% each), said Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita in Jakarta, Friday (19/8).

The Ministry of Industry also noted that the value of Indonesian jewelry exports increased in the first half of 2022 compared to the same period in 2021. During January-June 2021, exports of the Indonesian jewelry industry reached USD 1.23 billion. That figure almost doubled to $2.37 in January-June 2022.
